Dan asks for instruments other than the trombone that change shape
while playing.

The Swanee Whistle comes to mind, along with various drum traps -- the
wooden whip, the bullwhip, the ratchet, the hi-hat cymbal, the
shakere. Balloons are sometimes held by the blowing nipple to make a
rude noise as they deflate.

Trumpet players move the valve slides in and out to compensate for the
added length of tubing when a valve is opened. They also manipulate
wah-wah mutes.

A performer on the musical saw flexes and unflexes it.

Electric guitars often have a handle next to the strings that
manipulates the bridge to change the pitch. Not much movement, but a
little.

And some schlock -rock performers smash their guitars, which certainly
changes their shape.

And many frogs puff out their throats to a remarkable degree as they
sing to the females. As do howler monkeys.

Does Dizzy Gillespie count?
