Gary,
Try cut-off Bb clarinet reeds.
For me it works very well. The sound is even more dark and you can control
in a better way the pitch.

Best,

Fernando Silveira

I appreciate the good discussion and the offers of mouthpieces from
several people. I am going to accept one of these offers for a tryout.
The guy who I borrowed the instrument from had several Selmer
mouthpieces I will try also (he bought a new Buffet low C bass clarinet
about the same time he got the E-flat and has hardly touched the E-flat).

What about reeds? There does not seem to be many options. I am going to
go by the local music store (Kesslers) and see what they have after work
today. How about strength compared to what you play on B-flat? I know
the mouthpiece makes a great deal of difference but you have to start
somewhere.

Thanks,

Gary
