I quite agree! I'm not objecting to people who claim it is a metaphor.

No, I am not wanting a qualifications game, my point was just that I am =
speaking as a professional scientist, as you and others here also do.

I do like people to be taught how to play better. But I do politely =
disagree with you on the means. There is so much spoof science used =
dangerously, by politicians and in the media, that I do get annoyed at =
any instances. One might say it doesn't matter if it helps a kid play =
better. But what if that kid grows up to be scientifically trained and =
then learns his/her teacher has been slapdash and wildly inaccurate =
about some aspect of their teaching? That may lead them to suspect and =
be uncertain about other things that the teacher said, which were true =
and useful.
