Probably. I'm not trying to defend the terminology, only speculate
about where it came from -- hence the 'experiment' whose dumbness was
quite deliberate. ;-)

Possibly someone, somewhere, was also remembering stuff they learned in
school about forcing gases through very narrow openings to supercool
them -- hence the 'tighter mouth corners for cold air' stuff -- without
appreciating the scale of pressure required...
