Simon,

The Reich really won't work with transpositions--it's very range and
timbre specific-- but is a great opportunity for a subset of your group.

There are some other wonderful pieces for clarinet choir that would take
full advantage of your personnel!! You could try something like Adam
Gorb's "Burlesque" or Martin Ellerby's "looping the loop" (both
repertoire of the British Clarinet Ensemble and recorded on their CD
"looping the loop") or a Finnish piece called "Vento" that I reviewed in
the current issue of The Clarinet (which uses multiphonics and times
sequences; also on CD by the Finnish Clarinet Ensemble) or for pure fun,
Mike Curtis's new piece "Global Tour" published by Howard Klug's
Woodwindiana; or the hollywood/carribean/swing influenced "Collection
for Clarinet Choir" by Spencer Dorn, an up and coming California
composer out of Long Beach (avail through the composer); or Ed Cansino's
"Great Clarinet Circus" which my group performed at ICA Vancouver, which
requires a full battery of percussion.(avail through the composer)

Any of these could make good companion pieces for the Reich, though they
are completely different. (If you need sources, email me off-list.)

Cheers,

Margaret
