This year there are 17 people in McGill University's clarinet choir,
with keeners on contra-alto and contrabass and with all of
McGill's 3 bass clarinets already being used in this ensemble.
In trying to include everyone on his or her instrument (including alto
and Eb)
I am wondering if certain parts in the original instrumentation could
simply be transposed to contrabass, contra-alto, alto and Eb, fleshing
out the sound in the process perhaps.

Someone on another list suggested Gavin Bryars' Three Elegies (a piece
supposedly inspired by New York Counterpoint which has contra and
altos in it).

This is the first time I have conducted a clarinet choir so I am in
unfamiliar territory.
