The problem I have with this is "history". The key's basis itself has
shifted - the "standard tuning", whatever that means in any one locality
has shifted. If you base a key on A=420, or A=435, or A=440, or A=442, or
..., the mathematical relationships between the notes are retained, but
the frequency shifts for all the notes. One of the supposed reasons for
ever-increasing frequency of the basis is for strings to sound "brighter",
which, if true, might make the "sound of the key" different from when the
composer created the piece.
