Sorry to weigh in after the thread had gone dormant, but I was
interested in this, and looked at my editions and reread this entire
thread - what I saved of it.

I have a copy dated 1963, which I would have purchased between 1967
and 1970 - played it on my Senior Recital in fall 1970. It clearly
states, above the dedication to Honnegger, that it is the Third
Edition. It has the **UNCORRECTED** notes in the four places pointed
out by TP in his posts and the jpg's of the Poulenc MS.

I've had students bring various editions of this piece to their
lessons over the years, and it seems that the 2000 edition (current?)
has the fewest mistakes and the least controversy.

I own the Boutard recording, and my turntable still works. I'll track
the LP down and listen to it score in hand tonight and report if
there are any serious differences between the score(s) that I own and
the recording.

BTW, on the sleeve notes of the Boutard recording, Olin Downes lists
the dedication of the Clarinet Sonata as to Prokofiev (not Honnegger)
and the oboe sonata to Honnegger. Since Honnegger was an oboe player
- does anyone know if this is a mistake (from the MS, for example),
or did Chester manage to screw this up as well?
