Nancy, do look at Stephen Fox's instruments.

Subject: [kl] Re: Baroque clarinet

I originally was trying to send this to Tony Pay, but for some reason =
the address I=20

have for him is not working. So Tony, if you are out there, could you =
please=20

respond? Comments from anyone else are welcomed also. Thanks in =
advance.

For a long while now I have been considering buying a baroque clarinet. =
I play=20

in an early music consort and we are looking for colors other than just=20

recorders. We have two dulcians, a rackett, three sackbutts, five =
crumhorns, a=20

shawm, and too many recorders. I had considered a chalumeau, but enjoy =
the baroque=20

literature more than the renaissance. So I thought a baroque clarinet =
might be a=20

better choice.

=20

I would welcome any advice you might be willing to share. And where =
would I look=20

for such instruments, and what about mouthpieces and reeds? Used is=20

satisfactory, but I would even consider a new instrument. I would like =
to keep the=20

cost around $1800 US max, if possible.
