The NYO quoted is almost certainly the National Youth Orchestra of
Great Britain. Membership (or ex-membership) is very much a 'badge of
honour ' here; and if you hear them you will know why. Many of our
leading players are ex -members, but certainly not all: entry is by
audition and literally hundreds will apply.
