Pak is not the one I had in mind. When Tony Pay conducted at San Diego, the
regular conductor was an English guy who was also a clarinettist. I'm
talking about the time that the SDSO went belly up.

You're probably thinking of Jung Ho Pak who used to conduct San Diego but is
now in New Haven, I believe... He also used to conduct at the Idyllwild
Arts Academy (many moons ago when I was a student there). Also Larry
Livingston, who runs the conducting program at the University of Southern
California (USC) is also a clarinetist.
