For years (maybe centuries) in Sweden, elementary school teachers, nurses,
and certain care givers were always women, and they were addressed as "Miss"
(Fröken). Then around the middle of the 20th century, as men gradually
entered teaching and nursing, they too were addressed as Miss. Perhaps they
still are in some places.
