That's what I'm afraid of, too. It seems a shame to close down the Elkhart
plants, with their long, respected history. End of an era.

In response to overly-broad generalizations about the quality of
American-made musical instruments, Kevin Fay wrote,

Yes. My C. G. Conn saxophones from the 1920s are first-rate instruments.
(Too bad a first-rate musician isn't playing them, but--well, too bad. Not
for sale! Pry them from my cold dead fingers, etc. etc..)

Guess you haven't talked with many women in traditionally male jobs lately,
David. I appreciate the thoughtfulness when people don't call me a man.
I'm a retired stained glass designer-builder (a job that called for me to
spend about ten percent of my time doing the artwork and about ninety
percent of my time doing the construction work, including hard-hat jobs). I

use the term "crafter" because it's shorter than "craftsperson," but I don't

understand why anybody finds a polite, gender-neutral term such as
"craftsperson" objectionable--let alone objectionable enough to be worthy of

criticism.
