Thanks for the advice Ted. The tenor is definitely a different beast. I do
still have the Otto Link mouthpiece I experimented with here and I'll give
it another try-I think it's a 7 and it does take a HUGE amount of air. The
tenor I'm using is tight and well maintained but I do notice some large
differences in my ability to easily play the lower register notes with
different mouthpiece and reed combos. However, I haven't found a mouthpiece
that gives me both fairly consistent intonation AND the flexibility I need.

By the way, I do have a Meyer No. 7 tenor mouthpiece here that is almost new
and I'd be willing to sell it to anyone who needs one. I like it but in
general, it is too restrictive for me.
