Hi, Christy---here's some input.

The tenor is a different beast. The same smile embouchure that can work on
clar/alto will not work on tenor. I use an Eastman embouchure as taught by
the late Bill Osseck---the embouchure is a hole, with a cushioned lower lip.
This also works for clar, but sometimes, you have to start playing a 64mm
barrel after using this embouchure. (I use a 64mm ringless barrel by Backun
on a vintage Selmer 10G)

My tenor mpce is a metal 7* Otto Link, with a baffle modified by Emilio
Lyons. I use a Jazz Select 2-Hard, or a Rico brown-box #3. Ligature is an
Optimum.

It takes an exorbitant amount of practice to get the low register. Make
sure your Mk VI is tight---and then starg going from low D downward, using a
"Vooo Vooo" attack. And make sure the air column is filled up!!!!

Listen to Zoot and Ben Webster.

Best of luck,
Ted Casher

PS--I like Optimum or Oleg ligatures. Pricey but worth it.

For tenor playing, you have to say "Ohawwwwa." Can't use an "EEE" sound.
