In the case of "Company" (which is available on netflix for immediate
showing on your computer screen), the actors sometimes act and sing with the
musical instrument in hand ready to be played. Other times, for a solo or
duet or even trio, the actors play as backup to the singing. Finally, there
are occasions where none of the actors carry a musical instrument.

In several cases, the players doubles. One flutist also play sax, one
French hornist also played trumpet, etc. After 15 minutes of watching
"Company," the playing and singing of the actors became very intergrated and
I stopped thinking about it or being curious.

I'm curious as to how they manage to do this. Do they stop playing and
say lines, then go back and pick up instruments and play? The logistics
seem mind boggling to me.
