True, and Boosey didn't care that my group (community orchestra) made extra
copies of string parts for Pictures at an Exhibition when we ended up not
having enough to go around. I called to ask them to send more, and they said
"Oh, just make copies, and either return them with the set or make sure they're
destroyed after the performance." The person I spoke with on the phone said that
in future, I didn't even need to call for permission, I could just do it.

The important thing is that the rental fee is paid, and that does get checked.
As a condition of maintaining our ASCAP and BMI licenses, we are required to
send each group three copies of the programs for each of our symphony and
chamber concerts. They check to see if we've performed any of their members'
works, and whether the proper fees were paid.
