Good news - I managed to get hired to play the Robert Russell Bennett's
concert arrangement of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess.

Bad news - rental music.

The part has seen better days - the moron who had it last scribbled hugely
all over it, and made a half-#@-----. The pencil markings
are so deep that even with the graphite gone, you can still see the trenches
dug into the paper. It seems like every accidental is written in (which
gets redundant in the key of F#). I am certain several of the "corrections"
to the part are just wrong, too.

Please, please people - if you have rental music, write *light* in pencil,
and do your own erasing! If you're instructed to take a cut, feel free to
write a BIG NOTE - but do it on a Post-It, so the next musician isn't led
astray.

Sigh.

Sorry for the rant, but I thought you'd understand.
