Dear clarinetist colleagues,

I have been enjoying lurking on this list for some time now. Lurking
because I am not a clarinetist but an oboe player and educator about
the status (near threatened) of African blackwood - also known as
grenadilla and mpingo.

In a day or two I'll be sending out a letter to this list regarding
the African Blackwood Conservation Project (ABCP). In September I'll
be going to Northern Tanzania to collaborate with musicians there in
the expectation of assisting via music, with education promoting
further conservation efforts. My project will hopefully be educational
to both the Tanzanians and to all of us who play the instruments made
from blackwood..

I want to introduce myself first, not just suddenly appear on the
list. The subject will be Grenadilla Conservation and I hope you will
all take a look and perhaps this will initiate discussion.

Here's a link to my web page about what I have been doing in this
regard so far and also a link to the ABCP website.
