Just a note: The weekly journal Nature
(http://www.nature.com/nature/index.html)is running a
nine-part series of essays on science and music
(starting in the 15 May 2008 volume, I believe). So
far they've covered an interesting array of topics
(the evolution of music to this week's discussion of
how the development of the auditory system influences
our perception of music).

You may need to hit your local library for the journal
- it doesn't appear that the journal is making the
series free.
