I have the video.

I was at the New Orleans Clarinetfest and noticed the CBS cameras all
over the place. When asked a tech what they were doing, he told me
it was a bit for the Sunday morning show, but he did not know when it
would air. After that I made it a point to get in front of the
cameras whenever I saw them! When I got home, I religiously taped
the Sunday Morning show EVERY weekend hoping to catch the fest bit,
and many, many months later finally got it! I transferred it to CD
(computer file- I never bothered making a DVD out of it because it is
too short, but probably could). It is 83 megs (too big to email and
my personal web space is not that big) and I would not know how to
get it to him.

A story follows:

In the mid 1980's Al sent me a copy of an unpublished work he played
live on the radio in New York circa 1963. I thought it was WQXR, but
he corrected me that it was WABC. As a high school student I taped
it (I still have it and transferred it to more stable media). My
style as a learner was (and is) to play along with my recordings, and
I desperately needed the sheet music for that work. I transcribed it
note by note by ear and got a usable copy of the clarinet part, but
22 years later Al finally sent me the real thing! He has the
generosity of Jerry Pierce. Believe it or not, At the New Orleans
fest I introduced myself to Al- and mentioned to him that he sent me
the music in 1986. Without a pause he shot back "are you the guy
from New Jersey?" I almost fell over!!! What a memory!!!

This is a terrific way to pay back his kindness. The video is not up
to todays digital standards, but it is pretty good. Please let me
know how to get it to him.

BTW, despite all my efforts, I did NOT appear anywhere in the clip. :(
