On this model the lower register pad shouldn't open at
all when going from low notes to notes using the neck
register key.

There are three adjusting screws for this mechanism.
The one at the top to the right of the body register
key (let's call this one 1), the one between the main
joints connecting the G/D touchpiece with the long
hinge rod on the upper joint (2), and the screw for
the G/D key itself at the end opposite to the pad (3).

The problem you describe will happen if there is
slight gap in screw (1) between the screw and the part
under it, extending from the long rod. Closing that
screw until there is no gap might be the correct fix
to your problem. But, if screw (2) is closed too much
it will also create the same gap in screw (1) so
opening screw (2) a little might be the correct
solution. Or a combination of both of these screws.

Screw (3) is not exactly related to this problem, but
fixing it could mean will have the opposite problem of
the neck register key opening when playing notes using
the body register key. This can happen for example by
opening screw (2) which is possibly what you need to
do. This usually means screw (3) is too closed and you
need to open it to allow the extension under screw (1)
to move lower.

Basically the entire mechanism should work that there
aren't gaps between any of the screws (creating double
action) while still having the correct opening for the
register pads.

This is not the most simple at first but if you are
mechanical you should be able to understand this after
looking at the mechanism for a while. If you are not
mechanical or is unable to understand it then I
recommend to let a good(!) repairer do it.

I hope this helps.
