It is with sad news that I inform you of the passing of Dr. Gordon C.
Bobbett.=20

Gordon was from Knoxville, TN and has an article on the Klarinet website
about becoming a professional musician. He once told me that he could
teach a monkey to play clarinet because it was simply learning a basic
skill set that any good teacher should be able to communicate to a
motivated student. Talent was not a word that I heard him use so much as
skill.

I had the privilege of knowing him since 2005 when I purchased a
Wurlitzer Bb clarinet and talked with him about this system. Gordon was
a strong proponent of the German Reform Boehm clarinets, playing on
Wurlitzer clarinets. He studied under Robert Marcellus for about 8
years, I believe, back in the 60's and had many interesting stories to
tell about him.=20

Gordon was a treasure of knowledge about many things, but clarinet was
one of his first loves and he never tired of talking "clarinet". Below
is a link to an obituary that appeared in a local Knoxville newspaper.=20

I will miss him and wish his family comfort in the time of their loss.
