Around here, Equisetum has the common names of horsetail, snake grass, and
eel grass. It grows in moist to marshy places. There are several species,
and they grow all over the U.S. It's certainly possible to grow it yourself,
but it can be a bit invasive. It takes full sun to part sun, and doesn't
need anything special for soil. Just a lot of water!

Otherwise, check out the nearest slough or swamp, and I bet you'll find some
you can harvest yourself. It's very high in silicates, which is why dried
stems were used to scour pots -- or sand reeds!

Where does it where can one find it? Can you grow it yourself?
