Hi Gary.

I also suffered from this problem at one stage. However, for me it was only
evident when I was looking for a hard rubber mouthpiece to switch to from my
Pomerico crystal, which I had played for about fifteen years. Every HR
mouthpiece I tried 'chirped' when tonguing, particularly in the second
register.

This was only solved for me when I finally found a HR mouthpiece I could
play without this effect, which was the then fairly new Vandoren B40. This
may have been because of the slightly wider tip and side rails of these
pieces, but that is what allowed me to put aside the crystal. These days, I
can play any mouthpiece without this problem, and I still don't know what
actually caused me to create this sound, but I would guess that I had become
so accustomed to the particular internal embouchure requirements for me to
achieve the tone I wanted, that this personal setup didn't transfer easily
to a different style of mouthpiece.

Best wishes,
Geoff.
