Curtis Bennett---to play jazz & klezmer, you should have the altissimo up to
C3 at the ready, for your own performance practice.

To play the Artie Shaw solo on "Stardust," you need a good altissimo B! And
I need one in my version of "Sing, Sing, Sing." to play at the end of my
drum-clarinet solo, in order to bring the band back in!

There's a legendary story about the time that Dick Johnson first took the
Artie Shaw Orchestra out on the road. Sol Yaged showed up at the Glen
Island Casino, looking for Dick to "grokk" the high B on "Stardust." Dick
changed to a new reed--and nailed it! According to Dick, you need a
constant diet of new wood for a reliable altissimo.

Listen to Eddie Daniels on "To Bird With Love." Eddie makes it sound so
easy!!!!!!

Cheers, Ted Casher
