Hi Karl.
Are you using a regular Bb mouthpiece or a specific C clarinet =
mouthpiece??

Assunto: [kl] Widening Twelfths
I recently bought a Patricola C clarinet. I very much like the response =
and
the general sense of focus I hear in the sound throughout its compass. I =
am
having a problem with its tuning and wondered what mechanical solutions =
any
of you might be able to suggest. Basically, the chalumeau is several =
cents
sharp to the registers above it (or perhaps the clarion is flat to the
chalumeau). In either case, it seems to me I need a way to sharpen the
clarion notes a little, to widen the twelfths slightly when the register =
key
is open. I have found for the time being a mouthpiece solution (not my
regular B-flat/A mouthpiece) that minimizes the problem to a degree no =
other
mouthpiece/reed combination I've tried seems able to do, but it's still =
not
a totally comfortable solution. I'm wondering if moving the register =
vent or
simply changing the dimensions of the register tube is likely to produce =
the
result I need and, if so, what direction I need to go. Any other ideas =
based
on experience will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
