I think Alan Hacker, whose recording of the quintet does make
modifications that one might expect from a basset clarinet version,
once wrote an article about such an edition, but I can't trace the
article.
On another topic could the increasing tendency to write everything
for the Bflat too the point I hve met pro's who do not even own an A
also be a factor in the increasing popularity of C clarinets having
the same bore as B flat models. My old Muller system C has a similar
bore to my E lat; my Amati Boehm takes my B flat mouthpiece,
