I was more wondering whether there was any textual evidence for the
reasons behind the practice, beyond the already-cited material that it
was the 'rule' only to write in certain key signatures. Is this
discrepancy between written and actual key found in the work of many
composers _apart_ from Mozart? And to what extent are there
contemporary works which _break_ the rule and have music written in a
'disallowed' key?
