Terry,

Have you talked to your dentist about the loose teeth? If so...is there a
solution for getting them healthy?
Playing with the partial is going to be an 'individual's situation' kind of
deal. Some players have no problems....other people just can't get
comfortable.
I know several top orchestral players with implants....and they have had no
issues. That's not to say that all implants will work successfully.
Also....the difference between the prices of the partial and your estimate
of $7000 for implants....wouldn't be much to save a career. (partials aren't
cheap!)
Find a dentist that knows what you face as a wind player. That's your best
bet.
