Dear clarinet friends

I am so thankful for all your notes to me today about the tornado which
hit the university last night. We got hit hard by the tornado with
about half of the dorms destroyed and my building sustaining serious
damage. I had a jazz band rehearsal and had friends calling us that
there was a tornado warning going on and that the storm was heading
towards campus. I gathered three floors of students into a large
interior lounge and sat out the tornado. We hope to start classes again
in two weeks, but it will be 6-8 weeks or more before the music
building will be usable. =20

Of course I can teach a class anywhere but having band rehearsals is
going to be interesting=21 We had large amounts of water damage because
the top floor=E2=80=99s fire sprinkler system went off AND the main water =
lines
in the attic were cracked and opened up. The band room and recital hall
are soaked and already have an old brass spit smell=21=21=21 Why =
couldn=27t it
be lilacs or something...

However I am healthy, my clarinets were with me the whole time; however
my car was totaled in the tornado. Oh well=21=21=21

Take care and thanks for the messages=21 =20
