Bill Lively said about building the new opera hall/theater(re):

It's interesting to note; when the Dallas community built the Morton Myerson
concert venue, the underground parking garage was going to cost about a
third of the total cost of the project.....the community at large fought
hard against the garage, calling it excessive. Eventually the Corporation
set up to fund and build the hall prevailed.

It turns out that the revenue from the garage (used day and night by
businesses in the downtown area and for the arts district) retired all debt
associated with building the hall....10 years early!

There isn't a fight about garages this time around...
