Dan - thanks so much for a great story.

When I was 15, young and impressionable, I had the opportunity of seeing BG
in the Seattle Opera House (a Very Big Barn). I bought box seats and wore a
tuxedo to the show with a few of my high school friends - we knew that we
were young and ignorant, but this was a Very Big Deal.

As I recall, it was a great show.

Now, some 30+ years later, the poster for the show is framed in my office at
work. Every time that I think I am pretty good at what I do, all I have to
do is look up and be humbled.

. . . as I got older, and talked with some more folks, I became a bit
disillusioned with The Great Benny. Apparently, he wasn't a particularly
good boss.

OTOH, he could sure play. And the compositions that he commissioned leave
all of us in his debt.
