Correction: From September 21, 1943...

Further research: Goodman's band was playing the Hotel New Yorker in
late 1943. Krupa left Goodman and joined Dorsey because Goodman was
going on the road, or more specifically, to Hollywood to do "Sweet
and Lowdown" for 20th Century-Fox. On March 9th, 1944 Goodman
disbanded (in California) and went back to New York. He did not
reoganize his big band until 1945. I think the late '43 time frame
looks best given this data.

Late bulletin (the more you read the more you know): The Goodman
band played the Paramount Theater from August 4 to August 7,
1943. This was before Krupa rejoined, but only by a few
days. Drummer at that time would have been Ernie Austin or Les
Braun. It still really does not change the value of the story.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
