From September 16, 1943 to December 16, 1943 Krupa was back with
Goodman, after his release from jail on the trumped-up drug
charge. So Dan may be off only a small amount on the date. Or he
may be right about the date, as Teddy Wilson WAS playing with Goodman
in early '44, although Lionel Hampton was not with the band at all
during this period, and Krupa had moved on to Tommy Dorsey. In the
end, it does not really matter. Dan was probably too preoccupied
with Benny to even notice the sidemen! And the story is too good to
quibble over details.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
