>I think the pop is what Bonade and his students wanted to avoid by using slow fingers. The tone can be sustained from not to note throughout the scale and each note can be the same volume but if the fingers strike abruptly there will be a pop between notes. Bonade students were forced to use slow fingers and everyone of them that I have heard produced a beautiful legato as did Bonade himself without getting a portamento or sliding between notes.
