I had a Vandoren M30 mouthpiece made 1MM shorter and a pin installed in the register key pad on my Buffet C clarinet. This was recommended by Mr. Bakun and it raised the pitch of the upper register. Although many players and technicians say that these C clarinets were designed to be played with a Bb mouthpiece, I doubt that to be the case because the barrel that Buffet ships with their C clarinets was
too long to be used with any of my mouthpieces. This led me to believe that these clarinets were designed and tested using a smaller mouthpiece. I did get one from Morgen which actually seemed to be a reworked Bb mouthpiece.
