Doesn't the Taragoto have a tempered scale to play Hungarian folk music=20
or is it based on our system of A440. It would seem to me that the horn=20
would sound out of tune to us but in the reality to play their music in=20
their country it would be in tune, is this right?

They are hard to find, a company in Germany makes them. the clarinet=20
maker Steve fox made one years ago, I played it until he changed the=20
pitch on it. He now has it. He used to make noise about making them for=20
sale, but I and others have asked him in the past without success. The=20
really good ones are made by Stowasser, a hungarian maker from the=20
early 20 cent. they are difficult to find and hungarians are reluctant=20
to let them go as they are a source of national pride. I have a badly=20
made romanian model that takes so much practise to play in tune that I=20
don't bother with it. They play like a soprano, the f fingering=20
generates an f# and you'll need other forked fingering to get some of=20
the accidentals. I recorded and toured with Steve Foxes instrument and=20
I really like the sound, I think the German company is Hammerschmidt.=C2=A0
