They are hard to find, a company in Germany makes them. the clarinet maker
Steve fox made one years ago, I played it until he changed the pitch on it.
He now has it. He used to make noise about making them for sale, but I and
others have asked him in the past without success. The really good ones are
made by Stowasser, a hungarian maker from the early 20 cent. they are
difficult to find and hungarians are reluctant to let them go as they are a
source of national pride. I have a badly made romanian model that takes so
much practise to play in tune that I don't bother with it. They play like a
soprano, the f fingering generates an f# and you'll need other forked
fingering to get some of the accidentals. I recorded and toured with Steve
Foxes instrument and I really like the sound, I think the German company is
Hammerschmidt.
