There's a Quartet by Peter Schickele (pub. Presser) which is a real gem.
Also, in looking over the pieces in the Woodwind.org database, Thomas
Read's "Light After Light" is a piece I've enjoyed hearing. Not sure
whether it is published.
Hindemith is also good. you could probably find several recordings.
Not sure how hard it is.
