Nancy,

I just bought a Patricola rosewood C clarinet. Did I miss a maintenance
instruction about oiling its bore so often? I didn't know that maintaining
rosewood would be any different from granadilla (which until now I've never
oiled).

Thanks for any information.

Karl

I never oiled my clarinets until after I bought my Patricola rosewoods.
They have

to be oiled every month or so when being constantly played. At the
suggestion of

Morrie Backun I used pure, food-grade almond oil. After the first use on
the

Patricolas I, too, noticed that "vibrancy" and so, used it on my "68 Buffet
R13.

Just yesterday I cleaned and lightly oiled the inside of my 4-month-old
Lebanc

Symphonie clarinets and mouthpieces (wooden) after a brutal Puccini opera
run.

They sound AND feel better today.

I haven't tried the Grenad-oil. I'd be interested in knowing if the good
doctor

thinks almond oil is equal to the Grenad-oil in performance. It has no
taste, but

it does have a faint sweet smell, like almonds.
