Subj: [kl] breakfast with Dan Leeson, and a book

Dear List,

I am happy to report that Dan Leeson is alive and well, and does not eat
pizza for breakfast, instead abstemiously choosing a cup of assam tea.
He also graciously presented me with a signed copy of his novel, "The
Mozart Forgeries" which I have now read, and which is full of copious
information on the making of handmade paper, 18th century watermarks,
Mozart's manuscript singularities, and Las Vegas lowlife, as well as the
capers of a couple of endearing and gifted crooks.

All this in that tricky suspense genre where "who done it" is known from
the first page but "how" has to be revealed. It's somewhat of an
education in the rarified field of original manuscript authentication,
too (in this case, the missing clarinet concerto and quintet
manuscripts.) Hooray for Dan!
