From what Mitchell Lurie (my former teacher) told me in lessons, most likely
not... He told me the Copland was a great man (and loved his wife's
chocolate chip cookies), but he had very particular views as to how his
music was to be played. He never gave the performers a huge amount of
latitude in the interpretation of his music- rather would instruct them as
to how he wanted it played.
