You could always consider it a half an hour that you could practice your
own stuff, time alone withot the wonderful little creatures etc. I
taught privately for years and carried a studio of over 80 studnts and
sometimes those times were precious. As to the other, these are
students not of college level and there are times when you have to let
the kids be kids or risk burning them out. Just my opinion.

Hi list,

Just wondering what other private lesson teachers do for cancelled
lessons.

Around here the standard is 24 hours notice some say 48 hours. But do
you care why or just that they give you early notice?

I had a student say they wouldn't be at his lesson on Halloween. I
think the reason for not being at a lesson has to be suitable as in a
school/band required function, sudden illness, sudden death in the
family, etc. But trick-or-treating doesn't cut it. And if I can't get
my students to move up to fill the time, then that's a half an hour that
I'm sitting there NOT getting paid.

A friend of mine said that as long as they give adequate notice, he
doesn't care.

Thoughts?
