I ask for at least 24 hours notice or they will be charged for the lesson.
I don't care why because private lessons are not required.

Subject: [kl] Lesson Cancellation Policy

Hi list,

Just wondering what other private lesson teachers do for cancelled lessons.

Around here the standard is 24 hours notice some say 48 hours. But do you
care why or just that they give you early notice?

I had a student say they wouldn't be at his lesson on Halloween. I think
the reason for not being at a lesson has to be suitable as in a school/band
required function, sudden illness, sudden death in the family, etc. But
trick-or-treating doesn't cut it. And if I can't get my students to move up
to fill the time, then that's a half an hour that I'm sitting there NOT
getting paid.

A friend of mine said that as long as they give adequate notice, he doesn't
care.

Thoughts?
