Hi, Rien

This usually indicates that the font file you were using has somehow been
corrupted or removed, or Finale has gotten confused somehow about its
location and can't find it. First look at Document-Options-Fonts (Finale
2008) to see what music font (for Notation) is being used and whether it's
really a music font (if the font is missing completely, Finale will probably
have defaulted to the next font in the list). Easiest fix if a wrong font is
showing is to select a music font from the list. If the right file is
showing but the wrong symbols are displaying, try to re-install the music
font files from the Finale disc and see if that solves the problem.

If these are old files that you're opening in a newer version of Finale,
it's possible the music font with which the score was created is one that's
no longer on your machine. Older versions may have had access to fonts that
the current version doesn't install. Again, if these are not recent files,
to rule out the same problem in a different way try starting a new score and
see if you have the same problem when you enter notes. If the problem exists
with new scores, it's almost certainly a corrupt font file or a corrupted
pointer to the files. Replace the Finale music fonts and see what happens.

Good luck.

Karl
