Subj: [kl] Tale Ognenovski CDs

I just received the Tale Ognenovski CD of the Mozart (and his own
half hour) concertos. PLEEEESE someone tell me how to get that damn
drum out of my head. Actually I could not finish listening to the
CD. The playing, interpretation, EVERYTHING is beyond poor. It is
positively painful. And frankly, I listened to his CD of ethnic
music and it is just as poor (and with the kindergarten drummer
too). It is not even vaguely representative of that style of
music. I was literally knocked over by the dazzling fireworks of
(name forgotten, clarinettist) on an LP I have of with an eastern
European band (in traditional costumes too). THAT was good. Tale
may have been something in the past, but apparently did not know when
to sell his horns. His web site equates his "genius" to that of
Mozart- what chutzpah. It also has references to tours he made in
1956. I just can't believe that even HE thinks he is
credible. Perhaps just a gimmick to make some $$$ on CDs? Or
perhaps he thinks we are stupid?
