Peter

I did some digging on Grove and JSTOR without definitive answers except that
the autograph MAY be in the Paul Sacher archive in Switzerland. It isn't in
Grove's list of Stravinsky's works. It appears to have been composed in
1917, on a restaurant napkin while dining with Picasso. 4 measures! As you
say, it appears on a few CDs.

However there was a performance in your home town, Toronto, this year. Maybe
this will help you locate it!

THE ACADEMY CONCERT SERIES PRESENTS: "Juggler of Sound" -Chamber Music by
Igor Stravinsky.

On Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 8 p.m., The Academy Concert Series will
present " Juggler of Sound", an evening of chamber music by Igor Stravinsky
(1882-1971), one of the 20th century's greatest and most innovative
composers. Performance by Nicolai Tarasov (clarinet), Jani Papadhimitri
(violin), and Alexander Kats (piano).

In an early period of his career, Stravinsky developed a unique composition
style. He was not simply embracing traditional forms and harmonies of
Classical Music but rather experimenting with them, introducing surprising
dissonances, off-rhythms and unusual musical idioms, juggling as a skilled
acrobat with all musical elements. This very distinct programme includes his
Suite from L'Histoirs du Soldat (A Soldier's Tale), the Suite Italienne, the
Petrushka Suite, Three Pieces for Clarinet, the piece for clarinet solo
"Pour Pablo Picasso" (first performance in Toronto), and more.

The concert takes place at the Eastminster United Church, 310 Danforth
Avenue, Toronto (between Broadview and Chester subway stations). Tickets are
$15 (regular) and $10 (students/seniors). To reserve tickets or for further
information, please call the Academy Concert Series at (416) 927-9089 or
visit our Website at www.academyconcertseries.com

The concert is presented by the Academy Concert Series, a Toronto-based
organization founded in 1990, that, with the generous support of City of
Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council and individual donors, presents and
promotes music performed in a historically informed style on original
instruments by Toronto and international musicians. More information on the
Academy Concert Series and the musicians involved in this and future
programmes is available on our Website at www.academyconcertseries.com

Subject: [kl] new? piece by Stravinsky

Hi folks,

I've seen a number of CD references to a tiny piece of
Stravinsky's called "Pour Pablo Picasso", a sort of
musical souvenir he penned for the great painter. I
found a reference to it being printed in a book about
Satie and Picasso, does anyone know where you can get
the printed music? (yes I know it's only 20'!).

I'm doing a Stravinsky hommage chamber concert in a
couple of weeks and would love to project the graphic
up and play it for the audience!

Thanks a lot,

Peter
