Jacob,

The metal pegs that come with the Leblanc contras are useless because
they are so unstable and "springy". Unfortunately, the stripped screw for
the peg holder may be a problem. If it is just the screw that is stripped
that can easily be replaced, but if you need to replace the entire assembly
that could be more problematic.

But, the building of a proper peg is simple. I have done this for my
contra and it is MUCH more stable.

You will need to find a good hard wood dowel or even a square length of
hardwood that is about 3/4" x 3/4". Oak is a pretty good wood for this. I
made mine out of purple heart. Measure it too the length that will give you
about an inch of clearance to the bell bow when you are standing with the
horn in a comfortable position. Cut the dowel to the desired length.

The metal peg is about 1/4" in diameter. Drill a receiving hole in the
top end of the dowel about 1 1/2 - 2" deep. Cut the metal peg to about 8".
With a 2 part epoxy glue the shortened metal peg into the dowel. Put a
crutch tip on the dowel. Voila!
