Usually the clamp itself needs a bit of adjustment. With a file you should
be able to modify the clamp so that the screw has a bit more potential
movement. If this is of the type I am thinking of, the screw itself has two
wings which locate in the body of the clamp. The seat for these wings needs
to be deeper, which allows the cut out of the screw to bite more solidly
onto the peg.
